Education is a fundamental right of every child, and it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that quality education is accessible to all.  One way to achieve this is by supporting the educators who impart knowledge to our future leaders. In Bunawan Wide, a teacher subsidy program was implemented in 2020, providing financial assistance to volunteer elementary school teachers in three different barangays.

The program aimed to address the financial struggles that teachers often face, which can result in low motivation, poor performance, and even resignation.  The PPA cost of Php 648,000.00 was allocated to support nine volunteer teachers in three different barangays, including Brgy. Consuelo, Brgy. Mambalili, and Brgy. San Marcos.

The program was implemented from January to December 2020, and the quantifiable results were remarkable.  As a direct result of the program, four volunteer elementary school teachers from Brgy. Consuelo, three from Brgy. Mambalili, and two from Brgy. San Marcos received financial support, allowing them to focus on their teaching responsibilities without worrying about their financial burdens.  This support had a positive impact on their morale and motivation, leading to better teaching performance and outcomes.

The Teacher Subsidy Program in Bunawan Wide is an excellent example of how small-scale interventions can have a significant impact on the lives of teachers and their students.  This program is a testament to the government's commitment to supporting educators and ensuring that quality education is accessible to all.  It is hoped that this program will continue to be implemented in the future, supporting more educators and improving the education system in the Philippines.
