Access to adequate and quality farm inputs is crucial for the success of agricultural production. Recognizing this, a Public-Private Partnership Agreement (PPP) worth Php 349,500.00 was implemented from July to September 2020 in Brgy. San Marcos provides farmers with the necessary inputs for their farming activities.
The project aimed to directly distribute farm inputs to farmers based on their need and request. The San Marcos Farmers Association (SMFA) was in charge of managing the distribution process. The association added a 15% markup to the cost of the inputs, which was collected after the cropping season and used to repurchase new inputs for the next cropping season.
The quantifiable and expected result of the project was to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector in the barangay by ensuring farmers had access to high-quality inputs. By providing these inputs, farmers could boost their crop yields and increase their income, which would, in turn, stimulate the local economy.
The project not only provided farmers with the necessary inputs but also helped to create a sustainable cycle of income generation for the San Marcos Farmers Association. The partnership between the public and private sectors served as a model for future initiatives that aim to support the agricultural sector and rural communities.
